1968 Pontiac GTO

Few cars are as closely associated with the birth of the muscle car movement as the Pontiac GTO, and this 1968 second-generation convertible is a prime example of the breed. It is presented in a red exterior over a white interior, although it originally left the factory wearing Signal Red over Parchment with an Ivory white soft top. Motivation comes from a date-correct 1968 400-cubic-inch V8 producing 350 horsepower, bolted to a Muncie four-speed manual gearbox. The engine is not believed to be the original unit, however. The paintwork retains a deep shine with only minor blemishes, and the hideaway headlights, along with every other light and gauge, work as they should. A comprehensive suspension refresh includes adjustable dampers and anti-roll bars at all four corners. The glass is in excellent condition, the engine compartment is highly detailed, and the chrome and trim are very good. Panel alignment is exact, and the doors shut with a satisfying thunk. After an earlier engine rebuild, this GTO starts, runs, and drives remarkably well, delivering an engaging and honest vintage driving experience.
